KIEV, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- The visit of the North Atlantic Council's delegation headed by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg to Ukraine on Oct. 30-31 is a powerful sign of support for Kiev, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitro Kuleba said Friday.

"This visit is an extremely powerful signal of support for Ukraine. We insisted that it should take place," Kuleba said in an interview with Ukrainian media.

"The North Atlantic Council will have a very busy agenda during the visit. There will be a meeting with President Volodymyr Zelensky and a speech by the NATO Secretary General in the Ukrainian parliament. There will also be a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Commission and a maximum number of meetings," Kuleba said.

The North Atlantic Council is the political decision-making body of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

Earlier this week, Ukraine's NATO Liaison Office chief Oleksandr Vinnikov said that the NATO leadership's visit to Ukraine shows support for the nation's sovereignty and the ongoing reform process.

Speaking to journalists in Brussels on Oct. 23, Stoltenberg confirmed that the North Atlantic Council will visit Ukraine on Oct. 30-31 and hold meetings with high-level officials in Kiev and Odesa.

Zelensky met with the NATO secretary general during his visit to Brussels at the begining of June. They discussed the situation in Donbas in eastern Ukraine and the implementation of the Minsk peace agreements.
