BEIJING, May 14 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Wang Yang has called for greater cooperation on the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative when meeting foreign guests Sunday in Beijing.

Wang met with Nepali Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara, Belgian Deputy Prime Minister Kris Peeters, and Roberto Azevedo, director-general of the World Trade Organization (WTO), respectively, on the sidelines of the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.

Wang told Mahara that Nepal is an important partner on Belt and Road, and China is willing to enhance strategy alignment and deepen connectivity with Nepal to enrich their comprehensive partnership of cooperation.

When discussing China-Belgium relations with Peeters, Wang said, under the framework of the Belt and Road, China is willing to expand cooperation with Belgium from trade and investment to innovation.

Companies of both countries are encouraged to collaborate on industrial capacity and work together in the third-country market, Wang said.

Wang told Azevedo that China always supports multilateralism and multilateral trading systems.

China will uphold its opposition to protectionism and supports WTO in playing a greater role in global economic governance, he said.
