BISHKEK, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- A medals awarding ceremony commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression was held on Thursday at the Ministry of Defense of Kyrgyzstan.
The event brought together representatives of the Kyrgyz Defense Ministry, the General Staff of the Armed Forces, and officials from the Chinese Embassy in Bishkek.
Chinese Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Liu Jiangping praised the contribution of Kyrgyz veterans to the victory, stressing that the Chinese people will always value the friendship forged during the war. Liu underlined China's readiness to cooperate with Kyrgyzstan in safeguarding the legacy of World War II victory and in promoting world peace and development.
Kyrgyz representatives expressed appreciation for China's recognition of wartime veterans, describing the shared history of resistance against fascism as an enduring symbol of brotherliness.
During the ceremony, four veterans received commemorative medals. Svetlana Palchunova received a medal on behalf of her father, who served as a military driver during the war. She expressed gratitude to China for honoring the veterans and pledged to pass on the memory to future generations.
"We will tell our descendants so that they remember all this," she said. ■
