BISHKEK, July 4 (Xinhua) -- An academic conference titled "Shanghai Spirit: Bridges of Mutually Beneficial Cooperation and Sustainable Development within the SCO" was held Friday in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, bringing together over 100 participants from the political, academic, business and other sectors of China and Kyrgyzstan.

In her keynote speech, Chinese Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Liu Jiangping elaborated on the significance and contemporary relevance of the "Shanghai Spirit." She also outlined China's work as the current chair of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and highlighted the organization's recent achievements. She said China is willing to work with all sides to carry forward the "Shanghai Spirit," promote continuous achievements in the development of the SCO, and contribute to promoting regional stability and growth.

Kyrgyz Minister of Justice Ayaz Baetov, also director of the National Institute of Strategic Initiatives under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, along with other participants from the Kyrgyz side, spoke highly of China's contribution to promoting the development of the SCO, and expressed Kyrgyzstan's readiness to work together with China to promote the continuous achievement of new results in cooperation in all areas within the SCO.

The event was co-hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Kyrgyzstan and the National Institute of Strategic Initiatives under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic. ■
