NIAMEY, July 6 (Xinhua) -- The Nigerien army announced on Sunday that it had killed at least 11 terrorists in response to two coordinated attacks carried out on Wednesday and Thursday in the Tillabery and Dosso regions of western Niger.

According to a military statement broadcast on Nigerien Radio and Television, the first clash occurred on Wednesday when terrorist groups ambushed a military convoy en route to a village in Tillabery.

"Thanks to a vigorous response, five terrorists were neutralized, and several items were recovered, including four AK-47 rifles, 10 magazines, three motorcycles, and a batch of military equipment," the statement said.

It added that the second attack took place on Thursday in Angoi-Daoura, where the army once again responded, "neutralizing at least six terrorists, recovering two abandoned motorcycles, and defusing an improvised explosive device planted by the assailants during their retreat toward Nigeria." ■
